We raise our South Africa Boer goats on a pasture that provides plenty of green grass, blackberries and other nutritional morsels. Jay, Brookside Farm's resident Master Gardener, manages the pastures and keeps them weed-free and healthy.
The South Africa Boer is a handsome, stocky goat, bred exclusively for its high quality of meat. Goat meat is very lean, delicious and nutritional. (See Nutritional Charts)

Our selective breeding program is managed by Chuck Hodge, owner of Brookside Farm & Gardens. Chuck oversees every aspect of our herd's well-being: health and nutritional needs, selective breeding, birthing, and aftercare.
The goats are ready for market when they are 9-12 months old; or 90-100 pounds. The goats are processed at Buxton Meats, located in Sandy, Oregon. Buxton Meats is a USDA inspected facility, in business since 1972.
The processed meat is packaged in clear vacuum wrap, then immediately frozen to maintain its flavor. We have a variety of cuts available, but we can fill requests for special cuts, depending on availability.
You will find us at the Moreland Farmers Market at SE 14th and Bybee, in Sellwood, every Wednesday from 3:30 - 7:30 pm, starting May 13, 2009. |
