| On the first Saturday of May, June, July, August and September, we will conduct tours of Brookside Farm & Gardens.
Both adults and children will enjoy meeting our flock of beautiful laying hens, and seeing the green pasture where the hens scratch around and where they lay their eggs. Lucille, the emu, lives with the chickens and she keeps a watchful eye on everything that goes on around the farm. Lucille is a very large animal and is quite protective of her area. We do not encourage contact with Lucille. The two resident dogs, Lucy and Herbie, enjoy meeting all of our visitors and they love to be petted and pampered. The pond is home to fish, frogs, birds and ducks, lily pads, water iris and cattails. Often, a Blue Heron can be seen standing in the water, waiting to catch a fish or frog. The much smaller Green Heron fishes from the dock. Dahlias are in full bloom from June through the end of September. The offer a colorful show and if you bring your camera, you can capture some beautiful shots. Our South Africa Boer Goats have given birth to thirteen babies this spring and they are so much fun to watch as they romp around the pasture. Children are welcome to pet the animals if the children are under direct parental supervision. Please call us to get detailed information and to make arrangements for a tour. |
